周明，1957年生，山西太原人，原藉永济，中国人民大学书法硕士研究生，中共党员，曾任山西省交通物资供应总公司副总经理，党委书记，2017年8月退休。现任山西国际文化交流协会理事，山西国际文化交流书画院副院长，三晋文化研究书画院副院副长，王羲之书画院副院长，人民日报神州书画院特聘书画师，中国驻外领事馆特聘书画家，国宾礼特供艺术家，形象大使，山西省书协会员。

在四十余年的砚海耕耘中，以传统经典为师，勤临苦练，笔耕不辍，形成了清秀隽永，遒劲潇洒的个人风格。尤其在大，中，小楷上的造诣，更是得到了欧阳中石，段成桂以及金运昌等专家学者的高度评价。二零零九年获中国永乐宫第二届国际书画艺术节百佳奖，以及文化部文华奖。二零零二年，二零一五年，二零一七年，二零一九年先后在省会太原，山西朔州，阳泉等地成功举办个人书法展。其作品不仅得到了社会的好评，同时更被国内外众多机构永久收藏。

zhou ming, born in 1957 in taiyuan, shanxi, was originally from yongji. he is a master's student in calligraphy at renmin university of china and a member of the communist party of china. he previously served as the deputy general manager and party secretary of shanxi provincial transportation materials supply corporation. he retired in august 2017. the current director of shanxi international cultural exchange association, vice president of shanxi international cultural exchange painting and calligraphy academy, vice president of sanjin cultural research painting and calligraphy academy, vice president of wang xizhi painting and calligraphy academy, specially appointed calligrapher and painter of people's daily shenzhou painting and calligraphy academy, specially appointed calligrapher and painter of chinese consulate general abroad, national guest gift special artist, image ambassador, and member of shanxi provincial calligraphy association.

in more than 40 years of cultivation in yanhai, i have learned from traditional classics, practiced diligently, and never stopped writing, forming a graceful and elegant personal style. especially in the fields of large, medium, and small regular script, his expertise has been highly praised by experts and scholars such as ouyang zhongshi, duan chenggui, and jin yunchang. in 2009, he won the top 100 award at the 2nd yongle palace international calligraphy and painting art festival in china, as well as the wenhua award from the ministry of culture. in 2002, 2015, 2017 and 2019, he successfully held personal calligraphy exhibitions in taiyuan, the provincial capital, shuozhou, shanxi, yangquan and other places. his works have not only received high praise from society, but have also been permanently collected by numerous institutions both domestically and internationally.

我和周明先生并没有过直接的联系和交流，只是书法界圈子实在不大，秉着创新、交流、传承，合作过几次，对其作品记忆犹新。这也让我好奇，到底是一位怎样的书家?才能写得如此上乘之作。

观其作品，在继承传统的基础上融入了自己的手法，周明的字不热闹，不哗众取宠，字里行间还保留着文人书法的意境和追求，其作品整体都很规整、恬静，也很讲究“法度”与“传承”。如今，书法的多样化，很多人像在“耍把式”，而周明他是在写字。字如其人，看他的字，便知他这个人。我无意吹捧周明，更没有见过本人，但他和我一样只是热爱书法，更执着于书法的科学与公道。固然，周明有待于更进一步和提高，但对于那些没有练几天字就人云亦云的“书法家”来说，已经是望尘莫及了。从运笔、用墨、布局、章法等来看，其作品严谨而不呆板，秀色自显，已具有名家风范且能为其他书家创作提供可凭借的有益启示。望其能继续传承中国书法之美!

ouyang zhongshi's evaluation of zhou ming's calligraphy

mr. zhou ming and i have not had direct contact or exchange, but the calligraphy circle is not very large. we have cooperated several times with innovation, exchange, and inheritance, and their works are still fresh in our memory. this also makes me curious, what kind of calligrapher is he? only then can one write such a masterpiece.

observing his works, while inheriting tradition, he incorporated his own techniques. zhou ming's characters were not lively or sensational, and the artistic conception and pursuit of literati calligraphy were still preserved between the lines. his works were overall neat and peaceful, and he also emphasized the importance of "law" and "inheritance". nowadays, with the diversification of calligraphy, many people seem to be in a "juggling style", while zhou ming is writing. words are like a person, you can tell him by his words. i have no intention of praising zhou ming, nor have i met him personally, but like me, he only loves calligraphy and is more dedicated to the science and justice of calligraphy. of course, zhou ming needs further improvement, but for those calligraphers who followed suit without practicing calligraphy for a few days, it is already beyond reach. from the perspective of brushstrokes, ink usage, layout, and organization, his works are rigorous but not rigid, with a beautiful and self revealing style. he has already possessed the style of a famous calligrapher and can provide useful inspiration for other calligraphers to rely on. hope it can continue to inherit the beauty of chinese calligraphy!
